Sunday Open House: The Nursery

People, I have saved the best for last. To conclude my Open house series I am going to get a bit emotional. When Matt and I first walked into this house and I walked into this room, It was as if God whispered into my barren soul...."This is were you will rock your babies." Matt and I had been trying for a baby for over two years when when moved into this house. My heart was heavy and tired from hurting after monthly heartbreaks. I didn't know if my babies would come from me or adoption at that point but I was sure that this room ,with the round door, would someday hold my dreams. Before I became pregnant I used this room to pray in. I would sit in the rocker and allow God to give me hope and strength to keep trying. When I was pregnant with Tobin I would often go in his nursery and with a joyful heart would arrange and re-arrange every detail. I apologize in advance for the multitude of pictures from every angle possible. But really they are not for you but for me. Leaving this house is leaving the place where God gave me my family. And I want to remember this light that floods their room and given me much, much joy.

Matt and his work buddy became parents within a few month of each other. They each MADE these changing tables. The cool thing is when the babies don't need them they can be turned over to use as a regular dresser.
My friend Rachel MADE these sweater for the babies. Too precious to pack away.
Tobin and now Jabe's crib.
Phoebe's crib.

This house might be where my family was born but our new home will be where my family was grown. And that my dear friends gives me more excitement then I can express on this page.

What a beautiful nursery and such lovely words to go with the pictures. Each room in your home is so neatly decorated. I wish I was going to be there Tuesday to see it in person.

What a beautiful room! It is obvious that it has been full of love over the last few years, and I think it is a wonderful memory for you. I think it is amazing that you had such a God-moment in there that gave you the hope and strength to continue in your infertility struggle. You are such an amazing woman! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Such beautiful pictures and what a story! I'm excited to see what you do with the house that your family grows in. You obviously poured your heart into this house and God will bless the next one as well.

What a precious little room. Remember when Maddie was upset that the room was changing and asked, "but where will I sleep?"
I still remember when you told us you were pregnant with Tobin. It was right before Christmas and you were wearing a pink striped sweater and your cute glasses and we all cried. We prayed and believed for so long that it could happen for you and look at your rich abundance of family now! God is so good.

It is a whimsical, dreamy room! I had to smile as I saw myself a bit in your story about going in and rearranging the room again and again while pregnant. I did that countless times - it made me feel happy and closer to the baby for some reason. Those sweaters are not only special but add just the right decorating touch!

Oh my goodness, Becca, you've got me in tears this morning. What a precious and special post. Thank you so much for sharing a piece of your soul with us. You are so amazing--your faith inspires me.

Also, I must add the pictures are lovely. I adore the antique door handles. My grandmother had them in her home.

I can hardly wait to see where you plant your family to grow.

I think this is going to be the room you'll miss the most. You entire house is just beautiful. Thank you for sharing with us.

It's so wonderful that we have an unlimited capacity for love. We can have one, two, three or more children and love them with all our hearts. We can live in many different and special places and love them all.

I you will always keep a piece of this house close to your heart, even as you fall in love with your new home.

It's official! I am now obbsessed with your house and would like to move into it immediatly :) Hey...that Twins napping sign...out of curiosity does it say "painted word" on the back? Just wondering. If so..then I probably painted it :)Your home is soooo amazingly put together and wonderful. We've been living in our house since Feb 07 and I'm still afraid to put stuff on the walls. it's pretty small so it's hard to want to commit to something...and even though it's so exciting to decorate for Christmas..I still find myself second guessing every decision! Anyway...well done. I love the had knit sweaters. I knit too....actually thinking about doing a blog about it soon. Hana just destroyed one of my "somethings" i've been working on :( wow..long comment....sorry.:)

I'm sorry, but I think this room pales in comparison to the card board cut outs of the mickey and minnie that hung in Gabby's nursery back 13 years ago when I had no idea how to have children let alone decorate a nursery. You know, you could have told me that it was lame, but no.

Becca! I couldn't for the life of me remember what your blog address was from that day in the Pearl when we saw you. SO... I emailed Steph and she sent me your link! Those sweaters look so precious hanging on the wall! To this day I think those two sweaters are my FAVORITE things I have ever knit! I'm so glad that you enjoyed them. I linked a blog I started for Olivia to this comment. Take look if you want. We send hugs to your family. Oh! and what is this about moving???

You take such beautiful photos. Very artistic. I know that the artistry is just part of you. Some of it can be learned, by you must be born with the potential (that of which I do not have). I'd love to talk to you about your camera, though. I'm in the market for a new one. Mine's about 6 years old and is sssslllllllooooow! I've missed sooo many great shots. Maybe you have some suggestions??

This is my favorite room in the house! So much effort went into making it perfect. And I will always remember you, me and Jill ALL putting our first nurseries together at the same time. Also, I can't believe Pam sewed all my bedding and yours in the same summer. What a saint!
