Flashback Friday: Drama Queen

I don't know how else to say it but to say it fast like ripping off a band aid. I was a drama nerd in High School. I am really not ashamed of it. I really loved it. I loved the team work, the process of created a good show and of course the audience enjoying our work. Growing up I really believed that acting was my calling. As soon as I could I would pack up and go to New York to be discovered. Life changes and so do dreams. I got really burned out of memorizing line and choreographymy senior year. So much so that I really don't have any desire to act again. But my, my how I do enjoy seeing a good play. (Stef, remember seeing Les Miserables in London? Brilliant!) Anyway I am embarrassed to do this but I will now show you some of my few pictures from my drama years. (Creature Bug, Extra credit if you can guess any of these plays.)

Oh, you mean me crying my little eyes out?! And then my horrible disappointing milkshake a la London style afterward! What do they not know about the ice cream ingredient there?

the first one I'm not 100% sure of but the second is Up the Down Staircase, the third is Noises off and the fourth I'm guessing is 12 Angry Jurors?? :)

PS Where are the musicals you busted your chops for!?!?

Kelli, I knew this would bring stuff back to you too! You got all but one play right. I'll let Stephanie have a guess before I tell you the right one.
And I just don't have any musical pictures. I wonder if Fred kept any on file. But don't tell him I have his work on my blog he might charge me!

I was a drama girl too. I am sure I can scrounge up some pick somewhere!
My favorite musicals were Grease and Little Shop of Horrors.
I even had a locker in the drama hall (yup I was a full blown drama nerd) My jock boyfriend refused to walk me to my locker because he was scared of my fellow drama geeks. My drama peeps alwasy made fun of me for being a cheerleader though. I guess I had the best of both worlds.

Hey, that's Monica Miranda my roommate from 1994-1995!! She was friends with Jeremy and that brought us together. I guess I never put two and two together that you would've been in theater together.

McKay drama was NOT drama nerd quality. It was the best in town in those days...

Good times.

Hmm...the backstage set looks like it's from Noises Off (I think I even recognize Allen in that picture, too!). The first two look like they're from the same show, but I can't think of what it is. I would guess it's I Hate Hamlet, but I don't think McKay did that show.

The last one...I'm guessing Twelve Angry Jurors, but it's just a guess. The shows I heard the most about when I was at McKay were the musicals like Fiddler, and The Wiz, and Once Upon a Mattress.

And like someone already mentioned, McKay's drama kids were not nerds! Kristin ran the best program in town (and did you see our production of The Crucible? it was great too).

Ok so the first two were "Up the Down Staircase" The next and my favoriate, "Noises Off". And lastly "Witness for the prosecution".
Not too shabby Ms Kelli and Ms Stephaine.
Kel, Stephanie didn't go to McKay but student taught with Kristin. (I think that's right) And Jennyth Green graduated before you and I went there. She's really old.
Thanks for playing gals.

Ah! Witness for the Prosecution! Yes, I remember hearing about that show now. Good times.

(And, yes, you were right about me teaching with Kristin. And with Judy James. Fabulous teachers for my teaching experience!)

PS: Did you get my email about the coffee details? Thanks for reminding me about that.
