One almost

I've been in a denial fog this month. Because it's coming. My babies are turning one next week. This panic has come over me. And as much as I beg father time it just keeps on ticking. I'm done breast feeding and my sagging bras are the only things sad about that. But I suppose my body misses burning those extra calories and I could really use some of those endorphins that are realised while nursing. I will not miss nursing one while the other is screaming for me or squeezing into my mini van trying to find a quite place to feed.
I feel guilt over their blank pages in their baby books. I almost wish I didn't write anything in them, I could at least sell them on eBay. But no, I had to write one obsolete fact in each of them. Phoebe first tooth bottom right came in at four months and Jabe rolled over . . . oh I don't know when but I have it written down so if we ever want to have an anniversary party on that glorious day I've got it. So sorry Jabe and Phoebe, I never documented when you first laughed or clapped or had your first solid poop. I know that one day you will ask to see your baby books and I will tell you a sad story of how they burned in a house fire but I rescued you while crying for the precious pages going up in flames. (Do you think they will buy it?) I can only say this: everything that was supposed to happen developmentally DID. No signs of either of you being a genius or super athlete (although I'm not ruling that out for your future.) That being said, no signs of needing to ride the special short bus either. So you're normal. As far as Parents Magazine is concerned.
I am busy planning their party and will post pictures early next week of the bash.

You warned me that I was going to get sentimental around Claire's first birthday and when I didn't I thought, whew...I dodged that, but now, 2 months later I feel like time is just rushing by! I know that you know this, but enjoy it...the baby time goes by way too fast.

Phoebe and Jabe will love this blog even if their baby books are lacking certain details.

Your babies are adorable. Do you ever get tired of hearing that? Probably not. Even better than the baby books, the time you spent with them throughout their precious first year of life. It's just too much and wouldn't fit in a few pages.

Hey-there is nothing wrong with the short bus! You are an awesome mom and a dear friend! Keep up the wonderful job you are doing. Those baby books don't go up to heaven with us, but the love your showing and teaching those precious babies will. Love you all!

Note: Abby is right, there is nothing wrong with riding the short bus. . .just wanted to note that everything looks like the long dangerous bus with the bullies and little supervision seems to be in there future so far. Love ya Abby.

Oh, I've been emotional about Makayla turning a year old since I was still in the hopspital with her after birth!! Really, though, caressing her tiny body, I had this overwhelming feeling of "don't ever grow up" and "stay my baby forever". And now we're 1 1/2 months away from her birthday. How time has flown by. Oh...I really think I know how you feel!

Happy (almost) birthdy, Phoebe and Jabe!

Just to encourage you.... I was REALLY bad about tracking dates on all three of my kids. I think the "book" is a social pressure.... and I don't like it. You sound like a FABULOUS mother... book or no book. Blessings on you!

If it would make you feel better, you can give Phoebe and Jabe mine and my brother's baby books that my mom kept. I'll just change the dates, but then they'll "know" when every tooth came in and when it came out (I can give you our actual teeth, too), and whenever they took a pill of any kind (date & exact time included), whenever they had any inkling of a fever or illness, how much they weighed every single month of their lives through high school graduation, have their first, second, third, fourth and every band-aid they ever wore throughout elementary school, and I can actually give them the exact tissue Phoebe used to pull out her first tooth. Then your kids will successfully think you're wierd.

Or...you can just continue loving them the way that you do and not stress about the details of documenting their every move and live happily ever after!

You're such a great mom! Congrats on making it through their first year~you make it look easy!

Ok so I had never heard of the band aid saving. Just when I think I've heard all the stories you pull another one out. Write a book, Sharon.

they are so blasted cute! Has it already been a year!? Isn't is crazy how fast it goes? You always think that it's so cliche to say but it's so true. Larissa is going to be two in September!! Time needs to slow down just a bit, not stop, but slow down. Happy birthday Jabe and Phoebe!

Happy birthday Phoebe and Jabe! You have the best Mommy in the world! She may not know the exact date you got that tooth, but she will always "know" you - genuinely know and care for you! Much more important!
