Because I'm Crafty Like That

Last weekend police officers kids were treated to a fun Christmas party full of sugar, Santa, presents and crafts. This was my second year I organized the craft department. Here are some of the simple treats we made that you could easily do with the kids in your life.
Paper Stocking Ornament
Pinecone Christmas Tree
I have a major love affair happening with pom poms. I'm not sure why, but they make me very merry.

Ribbon Bookmark
This was a fun one. The kids use their thumbprints to make the holly leaves.
Hard to see picture of our Candy Airplane. Super-fly airplane made from Smarties, Lifesavers, stick of gum and a rubber band.

This is Phoebe super stoked about her My Little Pony gift from Santa. I had to get to the school early to set up so it was all on Matt shoulders to get the three of them ready for the party. I laid out clothes to make it easier on him. He even did her hair! Nice, yes?

No. I gasped when I saw the creativity he put in the back.
A special note to husbands from Glory Laine: One pony tail is fine, two is great, but never, (with everything holy) ever do three.

Dude! That's my school! (where I teach)
I love the setup, so organized and user-friendly for a big crowd. You are fantastic and so creative.

Haha! That is awesome (the hair). If it's any consolation, Rachel from Friends wore her hair like that a few times, so if it were 6 years ago, it might have been trendy. :)

p.s. And no, I don't remember all of Rachel's hair-styles. It's just that that particular one caught my eye because, well, THREE ponytails?

You know, I SAW the 3 pony tail little lady and wondered for a bit, but then I figured it was some new girl-hair trend I didn't know about since I don't do girl-hair. I thought it looked cute regardless. And great crafts! Tristan is sooooo proud of his ornaments.

Every time Brett has to get the girls ready my 2 year old ends up looking like a homeless Ellen Degenris. I'm not even mad anymore, I'm impressed. The likeness is uncanny...

I LOVE how the candy airplane turned out! How are you ever going to come up with ideas for next year?

And I think Matt should enter that style in some hair competition. Sweetness!

Hi there, Kari Venti recommended your blog to me :)

I was just curious where you got the pine cones for this first craft project? I've been looking around. Both in yards/parks and at the store and I can't find that kind. Any leads would be awesome :)

Oops! I meant the SECOND project :)

Mama May,
I found the pinecones in bags of 10-12 at Craft Warehouse and Michael's. Hard to find them not scented. They were like $3.99 a bag. Hope that helps.
