I heart blogging

Sometimes I wish that after a few days after I've posted, some kind of alarm or odor would come from my laptop pestering me until I just took the time to sit down and post what is on my mind. But alas it seems I choose to tend to the changing of babies and scrubbing ketchup from the carpet instead. The thing is I love blogging. And more than that, I value this community that is coming together. I love that this forum is bring together some of my dearest friends from all the corners of my life. So to continue this, "we are the world" moment I wanted to introduce you to some newbies that just happen to be in my real family.

1st we have my cousin Jill. Mothering 4 year old Elsa and baby Josh. She has wonderful talents of decorating, homemaking and party planning. She is well read and a great person to go shopping with. Check her out.

2nd we have my sister-in-law Stefanie. Stefanie is so sweet she is like a gooey caramel sundae with a creme brulee crust. She is thoughtful and self sacrificing. I can't tel you how blessed I am to have her in my life. Read about her raising three gorgeous girls here. PS she leaves the best comments too.

3rd but not last, my dear cousin Stacey. Stacey is a new mommy and is doing such a great job of articulating the struggles and joys of bringing home baby. And she is so FUNNY!

Check these wonderful ladies out and encourage them with your comments. Speaking of comments..... Did you know the month of October in national de-lurking month in blog world? Lurker is a really harsh name for a person that consistently reads someones blog but doesn't leave comments. I would prefer to call them browsers. Browsing is perfectly acceptable to me, but just for fun I would love to know more of you who are reading. So tell me about yourself. Feeling Shy? To encourage you I will donate $1 for every comment on this post to my local crisis pregnancy center. Now how could you refuse helping out another mom?

Here's my comment for my/your donation to the pregnancy center!

Hi, my name is Jenny, and I am a blogger.

Sorry I don't allow comments on my blog, but feel free to stop on by.

Warning...my blog is a button pushing , sometimes crazy, ponderous theological/philosophical, emotions on the sleeve kind of blog.

Enter at your own risk.

Hola!
I am listening to you on the phone and leaving you a comment. How about that!
Yeah for the donations!

This is awesome Becca! What a great cause to give to.

What a great idea!

Yes, I am often a browser (aka lurker) but I do read each and every post of yours.

I love blogging too, thanks to Kelli who got me all set up! I am not as eloquent a writer as you and usually just put up pictures and let them speak for themselves, but I love it nonetheless. Its amazing that any of us have time to blog with our busy children, but its such a great way to keep in touch.

I have come to love the blogging world too, Becca. And at times I maybe a lurker too. But most of the time I do try to leave a comment on the blogs I read. Unless my rugrats are demanding too much attetion. What a great way to make money for an excellent cause!

Becca, you're such a trend setter! I would like to know how many people you yourself are responsible for encouraging the start up of their own blogs. I know I'm on that list! And, also thanks to your blog, I have a new "real life" friend! : )

As for "lurking," I always feel weird about that, so I usually leave comments when I go blog visiting. I know that I LOVE getting comments, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy~so hopefully I can do that for others as well!

Great comment challenge, by the way. I think you're neat-o.

Hi... my name is Becky and I occassionaly check out your blog.:) I wouldn't call myself a lurker as I've left comments before, but just not every time! However, you've really made me wonder about who else is visiting my blog, without leaving a comment... hummmm....

I am loving this blog community, too. And, I'm totally addicted. I wake up every morning and check for new comments, and check for new posts on other blogs.

You're such a creative writer, too, Becca. I always enjoy reading your blog!

Rachel and I were talking about how fun it has been over the last few weeks "meeting" new blog friends, thank you for bringing us together, most of them found me thorugh your page!

How fun are you!?! Thanks for introducing me, through your blog, to all these great women!!

It only took a year for me to stop procrastinating(I do that when I don't know HOW to do something)...but thanks for getting me hooked on blogging! I love your community of friends and how they are receptive to my posts. It will prove even more of a lifeline when I am stuck at home with a newborn.

Put me in for a donation too!

Okay, I usually do leave comments most of the time but I most certainly have to leave one today since there is a donation to a good cause involved. It sounds like we all need a blogger support group as we are all addicted. As for who I am: I'm a new mom; a wife to a husband who goes out each work night to protect our community from dangers that go far beyond the imagination of most; a friend (hopefully a good one); I'm a night-owl who is always thankful when my son sleeps past 7am; and a farm-girl at heart.

Ketchup in the carpet?!!!

And what a terrific organization to donate $1 per comment to. Our kids just had a jogathon at school. I stupidly pledged $1 per lap for each kid. Well, they each ran 25 laps!!! OUCH. $50 bucks! That's worse then ketchup in the carpet

I am a lurker, I know it's horrible. I found your blog through the Pinkerton's and since Matt and Matty don't work in the same office anymore this is how I feel I stay connected to you guys. I had not left a comment before because I was never officially invited into your blog so I felt a little guilty looking at it. Our blog is invite only and I do not have your email address so if you want an invite to our blog have Matty tell Matt and he can send you one. :)

Okay now that puts you up to 17 big ones. I was just going to respond to your comment on my blog and now it's going to cost you. We're due March 4 but I'll have a c-section about a week before that. Well, hope to see you Tuesday!

Thanks for the hugs today! See you on Tuesday, maybe I will be less of a basket case then!

Hi there,

I stumbled on your blog this weekend from a comment you left on another friend's blog. Your posts are so entertaining - I am struggling from infertility right now for different medical reasons - but gain encouragement from your posts that I can be a survivor someday too.

You're pretty tricky, getting us to comment for donations. Crafty. Very crafty.

Hey Becca,

I'm one of your lurkers, ur, uh, whatever. I don't even have an official signin so I have to be anonymous. But I love seeing your stuff and am glad you got Jill into this as well. Keep up the good work.

Oh, to "ona"...commercials don't matter any more. Just hit pause on the TiVo!

Your cuz, Shane

I am not a lurker!! I write comments (even if only one comment for every few entries...usually more) on every blog I read. I really feel like spying if I read someone's and don't let them I that I'm there. (Silly???) I'm actually toying with the idea of putting mine on private and only allowing those who comment to read (regardless of whether or not I know them). I'm sure I have lurkers. I'm sure most of us do! (I feel like "Quit lurking! Let me know you're there!")

Stefanie said...

Becca, WOW 25 comments now on this one. Record? I got three new blog friends - Lindsay, Megan and Stacey out of this post. Lindsay, I don't know how to find you!!!

I am so stealing this donate to charity for delurking comments. What a brilliant idea!

Kelli said...

After your lurking comment, yes I'm a lurker too, I had to go comment on everyone's last blog they posted. so here's to another buck! Good for you!

Well, this is a few days late, but I'm going to post anyway. I found your blog through Stephanie's and I keep coming back because you are so entertaining! It feels good to not be a lurker anymore!

AngieG said...

I'm late but I want my comment to count for a donation. Lurker! That is so funny.

I think I prefer the term "browser" too! It sounds less dirty! :) I found your blog through Karen's. It's been a long time since WBC so it's nice to catch up on your life! I have a blog too, if you want to check it out!

Lara said...

Here is my comment also. = ) You have a lot of lurkers, browsers and friends. I love reading your blog Becca. You are such a wonderful, real mother.

Alida said...

Wait...I was sure I had commented. Yesterday right after Ona...Hmmm? O.k. well great idea!

You are on fire girl, the check is going to be huge!

Molly said...

Add another dollar to the check Becca. Great idea.

Lurking? Yes, that sounds so sneaky, doesn't it? What I find really interesting about blogging is that our personailties really shine through. For me comments are great, but I don't live for them. If I really didn't want "lurkers" then I would just make my blog private, it really doesn't bother me that someone is reading my blog and I haven't a clue. But I know some of you out there it drives you nuts. We are so fearfully and wonderfully made aren't we?

I love your thoughts, the way you are real, your humor, your honesty and your miracles from God melt my heart each time I see their pictures. Thanks for blogging Becca and I hope you keep it going for along time.
